Day 2: Reunion / Firsts

Bam couldn’t believe his eyes. After two years of waiting for Isu and his team to get Khun back to health, his dear friend is standing in front of him. Bam rushes towards Khun, shouting his name at the top of his lungs. He knows he shouldn’t leave DengDeng and Louie behind. He knows he shouldn’t throw himself into Khun’s arms when everyone is watching them. Nonetheless, he can’t help himself after seeing Khun inviting him to do exactly that, with both arms open wide. So he totally ignores Rak calling out for him and dives into Khun’s arms, probably hurting him a bit. Bam still doesn’t control well enough his newly found physical strength.

“Whoa! I’m glad you are so enthusiastic to see me, but we already talked over the phone, Bam.”

“I know, I’m sorry.” Bam separates from Khun, cheeks flushed, a wide smile on his lips. “You look good.”

As Bam expected, Khun gently touches his now slightly long hair, and comments about it with a loving expression. Bam can’t help but blush a little, a warm feeling getting hold of his chest. He closes his eyes, trying to assimilate the situation. Khun is finally in front of him, looking at him with affectionate eyes, smiling confidently like he always did, his hand feeling warm against his cheek once more. Bam’s heart races at miles per hour, but is the best feeling he has had in more than two years. Mentally, he prays for this moment to never end.

But is obvious it is a futile dream. The dog boys interrupt their long-awaited reunion, and Bam has to finally react and introduce them to Khun. After that, he can’t escape getting caught in a strategic meeting. At least he can watch Khun taking control of the team like he used to. Bam had missed these things too, chances to simply admire Khun’s clever mind. Bam’s heart keeps beating hard in his chest, and doesn’t let him concentrate in the plans at all, earning a brief scolding from the very same object of his distraction. His new Master Evankhell doesn’t give him time to be alone with Khun like he had planned for two years now either, pushing him into training like she normally does. After a few hours, she gives up on trying to get Bam to concentrate, which wasn’t a problem at all until now. She knows the reason, though, so she just sends him to rest with a knowing smile.

It’s already dark outside, and Bam knows Khun would be in his room. He gets there quickly, but stops in front of the door, hesitating for a while. He has imagined this moment for a long time now, but would everything go as he has planned? Probably not. Things rarely go as planned, even for Khun, after all. He can only take a deep breath and confront this with all his courage. It’s funny how this is much harder than run into battle recklessly like he always does.

“Bam?” He hears from inside the room, and that signals him to enter.

“Khun-san, I didn’t wake you up, did I?”

Khun simply smiles, inviting him to come to the bed with one gesture of his hand. “Silly Bam. Even if I was indeed sleeping, you can always come see me. It’s a privilege I reserve only for you though. The others are dead if they don’t let me get my beauty sleep.”

Bam merely laughs. Khun is the same as always. Sure, time hasn’t passed for him. It was only for Bam, he was the only one that changed. His chest constricts a little at the thought.

“Did you want to talk with me?”

Time hasn’t passed for Khun. He probably can’t comprehend the storm inside Bam’s mind right now. For him, they saw each other yesterday, after all. But for Bam, and in reality, they have been apart for two years. Two whole years of loneliness.

“Khun-san.”

Bam does as he is instructed, approaching the bed at a slow pace, and then he sits at the edge of it. Khun blinks twice, seemingly confused by the silence. But Bam doesn’t know what to say first. He has so many things he has to say to Khun, things that are stuck in his throat, unable to come out. And he is also overwhelmed with feelings he hasn’t experienced before. In addition to the pitch black solitude in which he has being drowning throughout these years, and the immense bliss for being in front of Khun again, there is his newly found feelings for this handsome man, who looks especially attractive with a blue dressing gown that matches his cobalt eyes. He didn’t have to deal with his attraction when Khun was awake, so he doesn’t know how to accomplish that. His head is about to explode with all the overpowering emotions, so the only thing he manages to do is hug Khun again, taking him by surprise.

“Bam? Are you alright?”

“I was so lonely…”

“…I know.”

Khun’s voice sounds as sad as his, but Bam knows he doesn’t really know. All these years, Khun has been asleep. He didn’t have to deal with being apart from Bam. He wasn’t feeling utterly alone. But Bam can’t really blame him for that. Instead, he knows he has to take all of this feelings and thoughts out of his heart.

“Like you know, My Master was… is still kidnapped. And you… Your skin was freezing cold, just like a corpse. You couldn’t smile at me, with that cunning smile I love so much, and tell me everything was ok, that somehow you would make it work, like always. I felt so lost without you.” Bam simply kept talking nonstop, his voice broken and his face buried into Khun’s chest, so he can’t see the expression in his face. “I kept training, I focused on getting stronger, to be able to protect those who are important to me. I had to train, to not let that happen again, but what could I hope for when I had already lost the most important people for me? I could only cling to a meaningless hope: for you to open your eyes one day, for my master to come back… But the days passed, and nothing changed. I got stronger. I achieved many feats in my training. Just like when I was first learning how to use shinsu, I wanted to tell you all about it, and for you to pet my head and compliment me for working hard, maybe for you to worry about me exhausting myself too much. But I couldn’t do it. Just like when I was in FUG, you weren’t there. And now even my Master wasn’t there. I was alone, utterly alone… again.”

Bam takes a deep breath there. He can’t keep the tears at bay anymore. He promised himself not to cry after Isu held him in his arms, not until he could get Khun back at least. Now that he is here, he can finally cry his heart out. Khun just holds him in against his chest, gentle caresses in the back of his neck, in his lower back. After a few minutes, quiet sobs still come out of him, but he doesn’t dare to look at Khun yet. He feels he might completely lose the willpower he managed to gather, to say everything stuck inside.

“I realized how much I needed you by my side. That, even if Rachel is still important for me, and it might be difficult for that to change, you… you are my most important person. I’m sorry I couldn’t give you an answer before. I regretted it day after day. I couldn’t forgive myself for being so dumb and clueless.” Bam lifts his head now, and gathers all of his courage to simply stare into those deep blue eyes that seem to draw him in. “I’m sorry I couldn’t tell you right away that… that I love you too.”

Khun seems to be in shock after hearing those words, but Bam doesn’t care, and doesn’t give him a chance to even say anything. He simply grabs Khun by the neck of his dressing gown and pulls him into a kiss. An inexperienced kiss, obviously, but passionate nonetheless. After a few seconds, Khun finally reacts, smiling against Bam’s lips and then holding his head with both hands, making the kiss deeper with practiced knowledge. Bam surprises himself moaning a little into that warm mouth that is devouring his without hesitation. It feels so good, so safe, even better than in his dreams. He can finally relax in this long-awaited kiss.

Suddenly, Khun pushes him to the bed, and lies on top of him. “You don’t know how much I wanted this.” Oh, he knows, even if he realized it much later than Khun. He had two whole years to fantasize about it. “You look so cute, Bam.”

Khun’s hoarse voice makes his heart skip a beat, and soon their lips unite again. Khun’s hot, wet tongue clears a path into his mouth, and they kiss for long minutes, just tasting each other. Bam realizes he is desperately clinging to Khun’s back. “Don’t ever leave me again. Promise me you will never leave me again.”

“I promise, my god.”

Just like that day, the day Khun confessed his love for him and Bam couldn’t give him an answer, Khun places a kiss in the back of his hand, which makes Bam blush and smile warmly at the same time. Then, Khun seals his promise with the kiss on the lips he didn’t give him that day. Bam feels the weight in his heart finally lift.

“You know, that was my first kiss.”

Bam says smiling, after long minutes of just kissing. Khun head now rests on top of Bam’s chest, which goes up and down, a little out of breath. Bam feels somewhat ashamed to be admitting he gave his first kiss at this age, but deeply glad that it was with Khun.  His Khun, now. And his Khun can probably hear his strange heartbeat. He feels so safe, so relaxed with Khun by his side, but, at the same time, his heart races every time he sees those cobalt blue eyes, staring at him with such affection and passion.

“It won’t be your only first with me, you know.”

“Huh? What do you mean?” The suggestive tone in his voice intrigues Bam, but Khun just shakes his head, laughing.

“I’ll tell you later. We have all the time in the world from now on.” Khun kisses his forehead, and then his lips one more time, which are swollen red now because of him. “’Cause I don’t plan on letting you go.”

“Don’t worry. I’m totally prepared for that. Bring it on, Khun-san.”

“Don’t blame me afterwards. You asked for it.”

Yeah, Bam doesn’t really know what he is referring to, but it doesn’t matter. Everything Khun wants to give him, to do with him, he would gladly accept it. He won’t let go of Khun either, after all. Not know when he finally could say how lonely he was, how much he had missed him, and how much he came to love him.

There won’t be any need for a reunion ever again. They would never be apart again.
